About
About the album
Téo & Téa is Jarre's sixteenth studio album and his most direct engagement with the club music of its moment — moving between discotronica, weird electro, minimal electroclash and stylish ambient, with equal care given to rhythmic detail, production and melodic writing.
The record follows two characters through the stages of a relationship, and rests on the idea that how long such a thing lasts can't be predicted. The two computer-generated figures in the title track's video are near-twins, one male, one female. The cover took its cue from David Lynch's Wild at Heart. Anne Parillaud, Jarre's wife at the time, contributed vocals to "Beautiful Agony".
It also marked a shift in method. Jarre stepped back from the virtual instruments and computer-based production he'd been working with, narrowing down to a smaller set of hardware including several prototype instruments. Claude Samard handled string arrangements, guitar and programming.
Released in 2007. Fifty minutes. Two singles: the title track, first as a club and radio promo and then a general release, and "Vintage", digital-only in July 2007 with two ATB remixes. A deluxe edition paired the CD with a DVD carrying a 5.1 mix and the title-track video in HD.
